CINCINNATI, Ohio - University of Cincinnati senior Brent Celek has been chosen to play in the 2007 Dell East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 20.

Celek, a 6-4, 260-pound tight end from Cincinnati, owns every UC career receiving mark for tight ends boasting 87 receptions, 1,114 yards and 14 touchdowns over his four years. A three-year starter and twice named team captain, Celek received the Claude Rost Award as UC's most valuable player after totaling 31 catches for 460 yards and three touchdowns.

The Cincinnati native boasts a streak of 24 consecutive games with a pass reception. The senior co-captain kept that streak alive with his 83-yard touchdown catch and run in the 30-11 victory over then-No. 7 Rutgers. It was the third-longest pass play in UC history. A second-team All-BIG EAST pick, Celek was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV second team, presented by ESPN The Magazine.

The 82nd edition of the East-West Shrine Game will utilize NFL coaches. Don Shula will be the head coach of the East and Dan Reeves for the West, with staffs comprised of NFL assistant coaches. The game also utilize NFL officials, rules and footballs. With aspirations for playing in the NFL, 41 players from last year's game made NFL opening day 53-man rosters.

The 2007 Dell East-West Shrine Game will be played at Reliant Stadium and will be televised by ESPN2. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
