CINCINNATI, Ohio-- The University of Cincinnati football team donned full equipment for the first time during its bowl preparations on Thursday afternoon. Practicing at Nippert Stadium, head coach Brian Kelly's squad managed a productive workout throughout intermittent rain showers.

"This was the first day of live scrimmage," said Kelly. "We put both sides together in a live format and I like what I see. The defense can bring pressure and make plays from many different areas. The offense was able to punch out chunks of yardage on big plays today."

Pleased with the aggressive attitude, combined with the spirited workout, Kelly concluded the session 25 minutes ahead of schedule.

Kelly added, "I felt we made progress on both sides of the football. I want us to continue to improve out here every day."

The Bearcats continue to prepare for their Jan. 6 matchup in the inaugural International Bowl against Western Michigan. Kickoff from Rogers Centre (formerly SkyDome) is slated for 12:00 noon.
