  • The Christmas Spirit

    December 13, 2006

This week is the first week of break! It is nice to have finals over and done with, but I really do already miss everyone.

There is no way you can go through this break without thinking of the holidays. This Christmas I am trying to get the best presents for everyone...my mom says I'm being a little competitive, but let me explain how it is in my family... My sister always gets the BEST presents for everyone...I swear she searches like the entire year for presents for people, so when Christmas comes around she amazes my parents and I with things we thought we could only dream of getting. This isn't just recently either. Even when I was little, I remember me buying something I thought was pretty nice for my parents, and my sister came in with two wreaths that she had made for my parents, all by herself, at the age of like 12!! Eleven years later, I still have no idea how she made those! She even goes on the internet and gets really amazing presents that would be impossible to get here in ...

But anyway, this year I have decided that I am going to out-do her. Don't worry, this is all in the Christmas spirit...haha, but in order to out-present my sister this year, I know that last-minute shopping will only mean defeat. So, three out of the past four days I have gone shopping, so I feel like I am off to a good start so far.

I'm pretty much exaggerating with this whole competition thing, but it gives me an excuse to go to the mall everyday and I truly have been doing some serious shopping so far on break. Also, I went to this Pilates class, and let's just say this was an advanced class!! Next week I'm probably going to go to yoga class, too. Today is the Crosstown Shootout against Xavier at UC and so after I give a recruit from my old club team a tour of UC with some other players on the soccer team, we are probably heading to Fifth Third to watch the game!

Anyway, check back in later to see how I'm doing on my Christmas competition with my sister that she doesn't know about! Also I suggest checking out the UC Athletics wallpaper and possibly even downloading it onto your computer!!

Memories with Nick Lachey and UC Athletics

    December 4, 2006

My last week of real classes was a bit different than a normal week of classes. On Monday I had the opportunity to go to the Cincinnati Enquirer building and I met the editorial board, including Jim Borgman, and listened in on a meeting they had. Then I got a tour of the newsroom which was fun.

Also, on Thursday I went downtown once again, except this time it was to the Bengals game. I brought them luck, as always, and they won. But there is more to this story, because I know you are thinking this is a boring blog... I was wearing my Bengals gear and fighting through the torrential downpour, when something amazing happened. As I was talking to my very good friend, I said with a gut feeling that T.J. was going to score this play... about 3 seconds later Palmer throws a dart right to T.J. for a touchdown that proved to be the winning score!

Of course there was also the part where I was excited and shocked because Nick Lachey appeared out of nowhere...he came to sing the National Anthem, and we all know he is a great singer, and more importantly a huge UC athletics fan...maybe he could come to a soccer game, great idea, I know...Last time I saw him in person was on my recruiting trip to UC many years ago when I was a junior in high school and he had come to watch the Xavier-UC basketball game at Fifth Third Arena.

But enough about the Bengals, because they are really my second favorite football team...my favorite would have to be the Bearcat Football team. And, as you should know, they are headed to the International Bowl...so congrats and good luck to them.

Well, I better go study since this week is exam week...check back in soon.
