CINCINNATI, Ohio - The University of Cincinnati men's and women's soccer teams will open preseason training camp on Wednesday, Aug. 9, as student-athletes report to campus in preparation for the 2006 fall season. The men's team opens with an exhibition match at IUPUI on Monday, Aug. 14, while the women will open exhibition play on Thursday, Aug. 17, at the Akron Westfield Cup.

With nine starters returning, but 11 newcomers added to the roster, head men's coach Hylton Dayes expects his team to work hard to get to know each other quickly before opening the regular season on Aug. 25 against rival Xavier.

"We are really looking forward to getting back on the field and starting the process of preparing for the season," Dayes said. "I think the preseason is very important in molding our newcomers and returnees into one unit."

The women's team, which features nine seniors, will also welcome a group of newcomers, as 12 student-athletes will play their first regular-season match on Aug. 25 against at Gettler Stadium.

"We are looking forward to a tough, hard two weeks of camp to prep us for our second season in the BIG EAST," stated head coach Meridy Glenn. "We're going to be in good hands with our senior leadership and we're excited about the incoming class."

Season tickets are available for both men's and women's teams as well as an affordably priced 2006-07 Olympic Sports pass, which is good for one admission to each home men's and women's soccer match, volleyball match and baseball game. Single game tickets are available at the Gettler Stadium gate on gameday for $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. A group rate of $1 per person is available for groups of 10 or more.
