  • , -- The winner of this season's XU-UC Skyline Chili Women's Crosstown Shootout presented by Fifth Third Bank will take home the new "Kendle Cup" sponsored by Kendle, a leading, global full-service clinical research organization headquartered in . This year's game is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m.

"We are thrilled to sponsor the Kendle Cup and revive a local tradition that celebrates the achievements of some of the area's most gifted athletes," said Candace Kendle, PharmD, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kendle (and a UC alumna). "We hope this trophy will push this fantastic rivalry to new heights and help inspire the community to support women's athletics to the fullest."

The Kendle Cup itself is based on the concept of bridging the pioneers of the UC and XU women's basketball programs to the game today. It is intended to recognize the accomplishments of all female athletes and celebrate the evolution of women's athletics through the region's premiere rivalry. The trophy will capture the winner and score of the game from year to year and will incorporate the Kendle logo.

Candace Kendle will present the Kendle Cup to the winning team in a ceremony immediately following the conclusion of the game, and the "traveling" trophy will remain in possession of the victorious university for display until the following year's contest. "We hope that the Kendle Cup will become a coveted symbol of athletic achievement, much like the Victory Bell (awarded each year to the winner of the UC-Miami football game) and the many other rivalry trophies that are such an important part of college athletics," added Dr. Kendle.

The Kendle Cup was designed by Trophy Awards of Wilder, in conjunction with Drawing Department of Cincinnati, and will be unveiled at the coaches' news conference in the days leading up to the game.
