CINCINNATI, Ohio---The University of Cincinnati baseball team received a boost when Bearcat football player Reggie Fugett joined the roster. Fugett, a tight end on the gridiron and a first baseman on the diamond, becomes the fourth member of the football team to dabble in a second sport.
Fugett, at 6-6 and 250 pounds, hails from Baltimore, Md. where he attended The Gillman School. He played three years of baseball at the school, hitting .438 as a senior, while playing first base and designated hitter. He was also an all-state performer in football as a prep. During the 2006 football season, Fugett redshirted.
"Reggie will add depth to our roster in the infield, especially at first base where we need to replace Logan Parker," UC head coach Brian Cleary said. "He is a guy with the potential to help us by being a heavy hitter in the middle of the line-up.
Fugett joins football teammates Connor Barwin (basketball), John Bowie and Jared Martin (football) as multi-sport athletes at UC.
