ORLANDO, Fla.--The 2007 Universal Cheer and Dance Association College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championships are in the books and the University of Cincinnati finished with a flourish, nabbing a trio of runner-up finishes. UC's All-Girl Cheerleading squad finished second, while the dance team was second in both the Jazz and Hip-Hop categories.

The national runner-up finish in hip-hop snaps a string of three consecutive National Championships in the category for Cincinnati. Memphis became just the second national champion in the four years since the category was introduced. UC's finish in the Division IA Jazz competition is the team's best ever, topping a fourth place effort in 2005. Tennessee took the top spot in the Jazz finals.

The All-Girl Cheerleading category resulted in the highest finish ever for Cincinnati, just behind Morehead State. UC's co-ed cheerleaders placed 11th in the Division IA competition, with Central Florida earning the top spot.

UC's cheerleaders and dance teams will continue to be in action at all men's and women's home basketball games for the balance of the 2006-07 season.

Highlights of the event will be shown on ESPN on various dates throughout early 2007. A complete schedule will be posted on GoBEARCATS.com once it becomes available.
