History Being Changed and Celebrated
January 15, 2007
After a long winter break, it was nice to come back to school. Everyone on the team was excited to see each other because for most of us it has been awhile since we had talked to one another. Now I am pretty busy with my classes and with winter lifting and conditioning. Also we are going to be watching some video of our games from the fall and having some practices outside or inside a couple times a week. We all agree it is nice to be back in a regular schedule!
This is a week full of celebrations. Today we didn't have classes in celebration of Martin Luther King Day. Also today is Heather Neiser's birthday - she is getting so old! This Wednesday at 7 p.m. there will be the Women's Crosstown Shootout, which of course I will be attending. It is actually sold out, other than some student tickets that they have left, but at this point I'm sure you have to hurry to get those.
At the shootout this year, all the UC Women's athletic teams will be lined up before the game signing autographs, some athletes will be walking around and some people will be at tables that will be set up. Rachael Epps said that this is not only celebrating UC and XU women athletics, but it is in celebration of National Women's Day which is coming up.
Anyway, we will be there signing from about 5 to 6:45 so you better come early to the game to get some of our autographs and meet us in person! During the game, the athletes from UC and XU basketball teams, both former and present, will be recognized, which I think is really special.
More history being made besides UC beating Xavier that should be celebrated is how Omar Cummings was drafted! Also, I know Ana Farmer is celebrating because of David Beckham coming to and playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy, which everyone is hoping will increase soccer's popularity in . Farmer always jokes around saying that she is "seeking marriage for citizenship," so maybe David Beckham will become single and then she will get her wish.
Check back in soon,
