INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team was awarded the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2005-06 school year at the organization's annual convention earlier this month. The award is presented by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America to teams that post team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The Bearcats earned a team GPA of 3.26 to qualify for the honor.
"The award is an annual goal for our program," said head coach Meridy Glenn. "It is something we know is attainable and it's a great recognition."
In November, sophomore Kim Sykes was recognized for her academic achievements by being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District second team.
The Bearcats finished the 2006 season with a 7-9-2 record, a four-win improvement over the previous year. UC opens its spring season on Sunday, Feb. 25 when it hosts Wright State at Gettler Stadium at 5 p.m.
