WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Marcus Sikes paced the University of Cincinnati with 19 points, but Georgetown proved too much, handing UC a 82-67 setback at the Verizon Center.

Despite fouling out with 13:19 to play in the game, Sikes connected on 7-of-9 field goal attempts, including all five of his tries from behind the arc to lead UC.

Deonta Vaughn scored 18 points, all in the second half to keep Cincinnati (10-10, 1-5 Big East) close. Marvin Gentry came in off the bench to total 15 points in the losing effort.

Georgetown (15-5, 5-2 Big East) was lead by Roy Hibbert who recorded game highs with 26 points and 11 caroms.

The 7-foot Hibbert keyed the Hoyas' disparity in size. With the rebounding equal at the half, 14-14, Georgetown finished with a 32-23 rebounding edge.

Continuing to show their resilience, the Bearcats drained 6-of-7 field goals, including 3-pointers by Warren and Gentry, to go on a 14-2 run before the intermission. The run cut the Hoya advantage to 40-35 at the half.

Georgetown went inside to Hibbert for three lay-ins and Jeff Green added a short-range field goal to extend the deficit to 48-35 with 16:38 left in the contest.

UC responded with a 3-pointer by Sikes to start an 11-3 run that brought the margin back to within reach, at 51-46 with 14:20 to play.

The Bearcats yielded 13 turnovers and the Hoyas tallied five miscues.

Georgetown connected on 52.8 percent of its field goal tries. Cincinnati meshed 23-of-47, for 48.9 percent from the floor.

The Hoyas made 20-of-26 free throw attempts for 77 percent. The Bearcats carded 7-of-8 (87.5 percent) from the stripe.
