CINCINNATI, Ohio - Former University of Cincinnati linebacker Tyjuan Hagler will compete in Super Bowl XLI for the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts will take on the Chicago Bears in Miami on Feb. 4.
A third team All-C-USA choice in 2004, Hagler received UC's Brig Owens Award as the most outstanding back as a senior. He capped his career by registering seven tackles, and blocking a punt that was returned for a TD and recovering a fumble, which set up a field goal in the Fort Worth Bowl victory over Marshall.
A four-year letterwinner, Hagler paced the team in tackles (82) and solo stops (49) as a senior. Three-year starter at SLB he started 36 of 41 career games on defense.
A native of Kankakee, Ill., Hagler finished his UC career with 246 career tackles, seven sacks, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, seven passes defensed and one interception.
A fifth-round selection of the Colts in the 2005 NFL Draft, Hagler missed his rookie season with an injury. This season, he has worked primarily on special teams where he has recorded 11 tackles (7 solos, 4 assists).
Super Bowl XLI will be played Sunday, Feb. 4 at 6:25 p.m. ET on CBS.
