MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Cincinnati has held the upper hand in its rivalry with Memphis, over the years. The No. 22 Tigers took out their frustrations while thrashing the Bearcats, 88-55.

The 33-point loss was the worst for UC since the Bearcats' 101-68 loss at Florida State on Feb. 6, 1988, and dropped Cincinnati's season record to 9-5. Memphis upped its ledger to 11-3.

Memphis scored the first 11 points of the game before the first three minutes of the game had elapsed. The Tigers had a 20 point margin eight minutes into the contest and led, 54-23, at halftime. Memphis, which shot .593 from the field and enjoyed a 42-23 advantage in rebounding, led by as many as 39 points in the second half.

Cincinnati, which shot just 30 percent in the first half, recovered in the second stanza with a .462 percentage. Cedric McGowan led UC with a season-high 20 points. John Williamson had 11 points.

Willie Kemp meshed six of nine 3-point attempts to finish with 21 points and Jeremy Hunt came off the bench to score 24 points for the Tigers.

Cincinnati returns to Fifth Third Arena to host Rutgers in its BIG EAST season opener on Sunday. Tip-off is 2 p.m.
