MUNCIE, Ind. -- The University of Cincinnati tennis team earned its second-straight win and first on the road this year when it beat Ball State, 5-2, at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center on Friday afternoon. The Bearcats improved to 4-2 with the win and dropped the Cardinals to 2-3.

UC took the doubles point for the first time in four matches. Senior Hannah Hinton and sophomore Elizabeth Young improved to 5-1 as a duo after defeating Haly Calderwood and Jennifer Pollack at the No. 1 position, 9-8(0). Valeriya Dandik and Alizee Paradis then teamed to beat Sophie Quist and Christine Stromberg at No. 2, 8-4, to clinch the point.

The Bearcats took four of the six singles matches, starting with Hinton's defeat of Calderwood at No. 1, 6-2, 6-2. Dandik topped Pollack, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 3 and Paradis beat Emma Retter, 7-6(0), 6-1 at No. 4 for her first dual win. UC's final win was by Young at No. 5, her team-leading fifth dual win.

UC is back in town for three matches next week, starting with a match against Xavier at the Mercy Healthplex on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. The Bearcats then host No. 38 Indiana on Friday, Feb. 23 and West Virginia the next day at the Queen City Racquet Club.
