It's starting to warm up again, thankfully (knock on wood). Yesterday the men's team went down to Louisville to a slightly warmer climate (slightly is the operative word) to finally get onto a course and hit off some grass for the first time since October. I had forgotten why millions of business men around the country play golf to relax until yesterday...

We're gearing up for our first tournament in Jackson, Tennessee March 3-6 and everyone is chomping at the bit. The next three weeks, however will be the busiest of the year - preparing for Jackson, then as soon as we get back, we start finals week. During finals week, we have to prepare ourselves for our second and third tournaments of the spring, which are consecutive. The first is in Crittenden, Kentucky on the 17-18 and then straight from there, we drive to Avon, Indiana to play in Butler University's tournament. We all can't wait to get back on the road again and start playing.

We've all been working our tails off this winter, in the classroom, at the range, and in the gym, and I think it's really going to pay off here in the spring.

Stay tuned.

Golfers do not like the cold. Retired people love golf, and retired people also love Florida. When it's cold and you're playing golf, the ball gets hard, the shaft reverberates every intolerable mishit to numb your already miserable and over-clad hands. Yardages even are more difficult to judge. I feel bad for Alberto Fernandez, because, being from Spain; everything is in the Metric system, so when one must subtract distance because of the cold, the subtraction has to be in yards as well.

We're not able to play at this point, but we have been hitting balls at Coach Martin's Golf Ranch whenever our faces won't freeze, and subsequently crack and fall off our skulls. Workouts have been twice per week in the morning, and we are all very satisfied with how the routine has been going. We've just been doing cardio work and core work, and then stretching for about 10-15 minutes, after which everyone feels much better and, of course, more flexible. The only downside is, being that much more comfortable in class makes it harder to stay awake. (Just kidding).

This off-season has been a good time to catch up with schoolwork, and everyone had a good finals week.

Check back soon,
