LONG ISLAND, N.Y. -- A pair of NCAA 'B' qualifying times and five top five finishes highlighted Cincinnati's second day at the 2007 BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championships at the Nassau County Aquatics Center on Thursday.

The men's 50 freestyle was UC's top event on day two, taking second and fourth place in the race. Marcel Kleiner qualified in the top position in the prelims in an NCAA 'B' time of 20.18. In the finals, he dropped to fourth place in 20.38, but Josh Schneider shaved over half a second off his best time to finish second in 20.31.

In the 200 IM, Jeremy Peter swam a team season-best 1:49.90 to place fourth. The 200 freestyle relay team of Kleiner, Schneider, Steve Wood and Steve Marshall placed third in a season-best 1:21.67.

For the women, Gerdien de Jong swam an NCAA 'B' time of 23.31 in the prelims of the 50 freestyle and placed fifth in the finals in 23.42. The 200 freestyle relay team of de Jong, Alex Doyle, Elinore de Jong and Lange Gilby finished sixth in a season-best 1:33.94.

The UC men are in seventh place after day two of four and the women are in eighth. Day three begins on Friday at 10 a.m. with the women's 400 IM prelims.
