KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team opened its spring season by splitting matches against Tennessee and Georgia at the UT Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats defeated the Bulldogs, 2-1, and fell to the Lady Vols by the same score.

UC opened play against the host UT and took a 1-0 lead in the first 10 minutes when Lindsey Noteboom fed Lisa Clark for the score. Goalkeeper Andrea Kaminski held the Lady Vols scoreless in the first half.

"We played pretty well in the first half," said head coach Meridy Glenn. "We lost some aggressiveness in the second half and let them back into it."

UT responded by scoring a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes to earn the win.

After less than an hour break, the Bearcats returned to the field to face UGA. Brittney Hansen started in net after playing the second half of the first match. She allowed just a single early marker as UC went into half down, 1-0.

Chelsea Kindschuh provided the offensive spark for the Bearcats, carding two goals in the second half to earn the win. She netted the tying goal four minutes into the second half when Jenn Johannigman fed Kindschuh and she drove the ball inside the far post.

The gamewinner came in extra time when Noteboom fired a free kick to the far post that Kindschuh headed in. Again, Kaminsksi posted a scoreless half in net.

"That was a well-fought match," said Glenn. "That was the first comeback we've posted in a while."

UC is next in action when they the Canadian Erin Mills Soccer Club on Friday, March 9 at Gettler Stadium at 5 p.m.
