JACKSON, Tenn.---Geoff Newman's opening round 75 was the best of the day for the University of Cincinnati men's golf team as the senior shows tied for 23rd at the Grover Page Classic. Round two was postponed until Tuesday after darkness set in at the Jackson Country Club.
After Newman, a trio of Bearcats are tied for 56th with identical opening round scores of 80. Senior Alex Wenzel, along with sophomores Albert Fernandez and Blake Tucker all tallied the mark in the initial round.
The team standings haven't been too kind to UC as the team sits 14th of 16 teams with an opening round score of 315. North Alabama holds a seven-shot leader over host Tennessee-Martin at the top with an opening score of 288.
The tournament will wrap up with the conclusion of round two and all of round three on Tuesday at the Jackson Country Club.
