CINCINNATI, Ohio--The University of Cincinnati has hired Joann Mantovani as Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Fan Development. Mantovani's duties include supervision of the department's day-to-day marketing initiatives, athletics ticketing operations, the development of game environments, along with working closely with the University's Licensing Office, spirit teams, bands and Cincinnati's multimedia rights partner, ISP Sports.

"Joann brings a wealth of experience in marketing and customer service from her time working in the CFL, the private sector with Citibank and Major League Baseball" says Director of Athletics Mike Thomas. "The success that the Tiger-Cats had in drawing crowds and creating a true fan-friendly environment will transfer well into the game day atmosphere that we want to create at UC Athletics events."

Mantovani commented, "I am excited about the many opportunities that lay ahead for University of Cincinnati Athletics both on the field and off. It is a privilege to join such a well-respected program and I look forward to contributing to its many future successes."

Prior to joining the Bearcats, Mantovani worked for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Canadian Football Club and its parent company MRX Associates. As Senior Director of Special Projects, she helped coordinate a myriad of championship events for MRX. The marketing veteran facilitated Canada's Grey Cup/Vanier Cup Weekend in conjunction with the Canadian Football League and the Canadian University National Football championships and the Canadian University National Volleyball Championship.

Before moving to MRX, Mantovani spent two seasons as Senior Director of Promotions and Marketing Events for the Tiger-Cats. While serving in Southwest Ontario, she planned, coordinated and directed activities for the Ticats, McMaster University football games, the 2005 Vanier Cup and the NHL's outdoor charity hockey game "Our Game to Give" in 2005.

Mantovani received both her Bachelor's and MBA with honors from the University of South Florida. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Mantovani served in the Marketing Department of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
