CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics would like to thank everyone who donated money to help the family of Mike Williams start over after a fire devastated their home in Camden, Ala. UC Athletics collected $8,000 for Williams and his family.
"This is an example of compassionate people in the Cincinnati area reaching out to help a family through difficult circumstances," said Director of Athletics Mike Thomas. "The support given by people who have never met Mike Williams' family speaks volumes of the community in which we live."
"Mike's mother and father asked us to convey their appreciation for everyone's help and support," stated head coach Mick Cronin. "The generosity of the Bearcat faithful will go a long way toward helping the family rebuild their home.
Williams, a former McDonald's All-American, was restricted from playing during the 2006-07 season after transferring to Cincinnati. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining, beginning with the 2007-08 campaign.
