PITTSBURGH, Pa.---Cincinnati couldn't contain the momentum it gathered with Saturday's big win as the Bearcats dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Pittsburgh on Sunday at Trees Field. With scores of 3-0 and 3-2, the Bearcats fall to 12-11 on the year and 1-2 in the BIG EAST.

The story of game two was Pittsburgh reliever Kyle Landis who pitched 4.2 shutout innings of relief, allowing just one hit and one walk and striking out eight. Landis' work on the hill helped Pitt improve to 9-11 overall and 3-3 in the BIG EAST.

Cincinnati jumped to an early 2-0 lead as freshman Michael Earley connected on his fifth home run of the season with a man on. The lead would only last until the bottom of the third as Jordan Herr and Sean Conely belted back-to-back home runs off of Michael Hill. Pitt went ahead to stay in the fifth when Gary Bucuren drove a single back up the middle to score Conley.

Billy Welsh (1-1) was the tough luck loser after allowing just one run and three hits in 3.2 innings. UC which was limited to six hits had no player with more than one. A 0-for-3 day at the plate snapped Tony Campana's hit streak at 18 games, matching his career-best.

Conley had a huge day at the plate for Pitt, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Chris Warner and Herr added two hits each for the Panthers.

Game 1 Recap
One day after pounding out a season-high 17 hits, Cincinnati was limited to just four as Pittsburgh evened the series at a game apiece with a 3-0 win in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader. Panthers' hurler Paul Nardozzi stymied the Bearcats' bats going all seven inning to earn the win.

Cincinnati poised its best threat in the fifth and sixth innings as the visitors left two runners on in each frame. After retiring the first 14 hitters of the game, Nardozzi surrendered consecutive two out singles to Michael Obyc and Brian Szarmach, but came back to get an Adam Yeager fly out to squelch the rally.

UC got one out singles from Tony Campana and Josh Harrison one inning later, but Nardozzi again escaped trouble with two straight outs.

Dan Osterbrock (3-1) was the hard luck loser for the Bearcats allowing just one earned run and five hits in six innings of work. Campana improved his hit streak to 18 games, matching his career-best with his fifth inning single.

Pittsburgh took a 1-0 lead in the third as Daniel Lopez drew a lead-off walk and went to second on a ground ball out. Peter Parise then came through with his first of two RBI singles on the day to put the Panthers up 1-0.

The Panthers scored their final two runs of the day in the fifth, taking advantage of a Bearcat error. After Nick Mullins reached on the miscue, Lopez bunted him to second with the latter scoring on an RBI double by Jordan Herr. Two batters later, it was Parise coming through again as he rifled a single back up the middle to round out the game's scoring.

Nardozzi (2-2) was outstanding, allowing just four hits and no walks, while striking out four. Parise was the Panthers' offensive leader, going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI.

The Bearcats return to action on Wednesday, hosting Wright State in a non-conference, in-state contest. First pitch at Marge Schott Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m.
