SETTING THE SCENE: Cincinnati will kick off a stretch of two tournaments in five days when the Bearcats compete at the Eastern Kentucky Spring Intercollegiate beginning on Friday (March 30). UC then hosts a Spring Invitational on April 2-3 at Hueston Woods Golf Course in Oxford. The Bearcats have been hot of late after winning the LaRosa's Collegiate Cup and then finishing third at the Butler Spring Invitational.

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENTS: The annual Eastern Kentucky Spring Intercollegiate will be played March 30-31 at the Arlington Golf Club in Richmond, Ky. The 54-hole tournament will see 36 holes played on Friday and the balance contested on Saturday. This year's field with Golfweek rankings includes Bowling Green (197), Brown (264), Centre (N/A), Cincinnati (218), Dayton (257), Eastern Kentucky (73), IUPUI (248), IPFW (265), John Logan CC (N/A), Malone (N/A), Miami [Ohio](206), Ohio (180), Wright State (203) and Youngstown State (269).

This year marks the third consecutive season for the UC Spring Invitational, but the first time Dayton has not co-hosted the event. Otterbein College took the team title last year by 12 shots over Dayton. The 36-hole, two-day event begins Monday at the Hueston Woods Golf Course in Oxford. The tournament field with Golfweek rankings is made up of Adrian (N/A), Butler (260), Cincinnati (218), Detroit Mercy (184), Duquense (267), IUPUI (248), Loyola-Chicago (219), Niagara (250), Northern Kentucky (N/A), Robert Morris (271), Texas "B team" (23), Toronto (N/A).

LEADING THE WAY: The unquestioned leader and top player for the Bearcats this season has been senior Geoff Newman. In nine tournaments, Newman has finished in the top-20 six times, with a pair of top-five tallies to his credit. The Cincinnati native holds a team-best 74.5 average. In the last week, classmate Joe Young has stepped up, winning the LaRosa's Collegiate Cup on the strength of rounds of 68 and 69.
