CINCINNATI, Ohio-- With mild weather and clear skies, the University of Cincinnati women's tennis squad suffered a 6-1 setback at the hands of Syracuse, under the lights at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center. Syracuse dominated the night, sweeping the doubles play plus taking all but one singles contest.

Olga Votavova set the tone for the evening for Syracuse (6-7, 1-3 BIG EAST) with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Hannah Hinton in the top singles match. Maria Vasilveva needed three sets to top UC's Rachel Owens, 0-6, 6-4, 6-0.

Cincinnati's (8-5, 2-3 BIG EAST) Jenny Rowen fell to Catherine Zawadzki in the third match by a score of 6-1, 6-0. Valeriya Dandik pulled out a win for UC (6-4, 6-2) over Carolina Huignard.

Ashley Lipton claimed a 6-0, 6-2 win for Syracuse over Alizee Paradis. Elizabeth Young fell to SU's Chelsea Jones (6-3, 6-4).

All three doubles bouts were grueling contests. UC's top doubles pair of Hinton and Young fell to the duo of Votavova and Vasilveva by a score of 8-6. Cincinnati's duo of Rowen and Owens topped Zawadzki and Jones (8-6). Syracuse closed out the night with Huignard and Lipton topping Dandik and Paradis with an 8-5 decision.

The Bearcats return to action tomorrow at 5 p.m. when they entertain DePaul. With the threat of rain showers in the forecast, the match will take place at Queen City Racquet Club.
