CINCINNATI, Ohio---The University of Cincinnati rowing team held its lone home race of the season on Saturday and by day's end, the Bearcats had recorded second place finishes in each of the day's four races.

"Our rowers did great; they should be very proud of themselves," UC head coach Pam Mork said.

In the race, the Bearcats went up against Dayton, Eastern Michigan, and Indiana. The varsity 8 team, the second varsity 8 team, the varsity 4 team and the novice 8 team, were all able to complete each course with a second place finish. UC's second varsity eight team staged the closest race of the day, finishing just under 10 seconds behind Indiana in a time of 6:52.5. The crew consisted of coxswain Melissa Patrick, along with Sarah Lautenslager, Jessica Miller, Lisa Teague, Jodie Lush, Julie Idoine, Emily Fox, Crystal Coolbaugh and Stephanie Celek.

Coach Mork explained, "It was so great to see such an improvement compared to this meet last year, I am just so happy about how well they (UC) did."

The Bearcats will attempt to continue these smooth strokes in their next race on Sunday, April 22 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. at the SIRA Championships.
