CINCINNATI, Ohio--The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team needed strong doubles from the team of Hannah Hinton and Elizabeth Young to win the point and give UC a 4-3 victory over DePaul. The win came in Cincinnati's final home match of the season and marked DePaul's first league loss.

Cincinnati's (9-5, 3-3 BIG EAST) pair of Hinton and Young topped DePaul's Anja Mihaldinec and Kirsten Gambrell by a score of 8-5 for the top doubles win. DePaul's Dunja Antunovic and Clare Chmiel defeated Rachel Owens and Jenny Rowen 8-4. UC's team of Valeriya Dandik and Alizee Paradis claimed the third doubles match by default to earn the point.

The Blue Demons (9-7, 2-1 BIG EAST)jumped out to an early lead by winning the first three bouts. DePaul's Antunovic proved too much for Hinton, winning 6-3, 6-1. Owens battled to a tiebreaker set, but fell to Gambrell 6-3, 6-7, 10-5. Rowen fell to Mihaldinec 6-2, 6-4.

The Bearcats got on track with Dandik's one-sided victory over Chmiel, 6-1, 6-0. Paradis claimed a win by default. Young also won by default.

The Bearcats return to action next weekend when they travel to Huntington, W.Va. where they will face Pittsburgh on Friday, April 6 at 6 p.m. and Marshall on Saturday, April 7 at 1 p.m.
