SETTING THE SCENE: The University of Cincinnati women's golf team will tune-up one final time for the 2007 BIG EAST Championships when the Bearcats compete in the Illini Spring Classic this weekend in Urbana, Ill. A full field of 16 teams will be on hand at the Stone Creek Golf Club beginning on Friday, April 6. For the first time since 1991, the event will be spread over 54 holes, instead of the normal 36.

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: The 31st annual Illini Spring Classic will take place this weekend (April 6-7) at the Stone Creek Golf Club in Urbana, Ill. The 54-hole two-day tournament is being hosted by the University of Illinois. The full field for the event with current Golfweek rankings includes Bowling Green (166), Bradley (127), Cincinnati (112), Eastern Illinois (169), Ferris State (N/A), Grand Valley State (N/A), Illinois (169), Illinois State (100), Illinois Wesleyan (N/A), Northern Illinois (155), Southern Illinois (97), Toledo (94), Western Illinois (208), Western Michigan (108), William & Mary (171) and Xavier (116). Oregon was the champion of last year's edition of the event, winning by five shots over Michigan. UC's Hillery Wilson finished sixth at last year's event.

THE LINE-UP: Cincinnati's top five players will once again be in Head Coach Janet Carl's line-up as the Bearcats try to improve on a sixth-place finish from last year's event. As usual, junior Hillery Wilson heads the line-up with sophomore Marianne Erb occupying the second spot. Junior Allison Mayborg, senior Sarah Bires and sophomore Sarah Stamper will also compete in Urbana.

HOPING FOR MORE: Through just over two seasons at Cincinnati, junior Hillery Wilson has already accomplished a great deal. As a Bearcat, Wilson has won eight tournaments, set the school record for lowest round and the mark for lowest single-season average. She is enjoying another great season this year, holding a team-best 75.8 average. At the Rio Verde Invitational (March 9-11), Wilson broke her own school record and established a new tournament-best with a round of 68. With three wins and four other top-10 finishes, Wilson is ranked 190th nationally by Golfweek. Last fall, Golfweek tabbed Wilson as one of the nation's five players to keep an eye on.

UP NEXT: For the second time, the Bearcats will compete in the BIG EAST Championship. The 2007 edition is being held at the Cardinal Club in Louisville, Ky., the site of UC's season-opening event, the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup.
