QUEENS, N.Y.-- Hannah Hinton gave another outstanding effort in the No. 1 singles match and keyed the top doubles fray, but the University of Cincinnati could not handle Connecticut, falling 5-2 at the Alley Pond Park indoor courts.
Cincinnati moves to 11-8 overall and 4-4 in the BIG EAST Conference. Connecticut finishes its regular season 10-9 overall, 4-4 in league tilts.
Hinton defeated Christine Burek in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4 in the first singles fray of the day. She paired with Elizabeth Young to defeat the tandem of Burek and Elizabeth Dibbs, 8-5 for her second win of the day.
Valeriya Dandik was equal to the task, stepping up to the No. 2 singles position and winning 6-2, 7-6 over Kelley LoRusso. Jenny Rowen fell to Jessica Porter by identical scores of 6-3, 6-3. Alizee Paradis dropped her match against Breann Cheung, 6-3, 6-4.
Young lost to Alison Campitiello, 6-0 and 7-5. Jennifer Keiner pushed her match to a tiebreaker in the second set (11-9), but lost 6-2, 7-6.
Cincinnati wraps up its regular season on Sunday with a 10 a.m. match at St. John's.
