The Next Game
Hey all! Today is Friday, one of my favorite days of the week. This week has been a long one...One thing that was interesting was that it was Erica Maine's birthday earlier this week and her mom sent her a cake....which meant we all got to eat it with her! Haha. We surprised her, which was really the fun part...it was also funny that she had this balloon that could talk... Am I the only one who didn't even know those exist? Haha...when Melissa Bigg saw the balloon she was like "ooooohhh noo" because she has a balloon-phobia....haha Biggie cracks me up.
This week we didn't have much soccer practice, but we had some end-of-the-year type meetings with the coaches. We also lifted with Curtis, which is really the start of some intense lifting that will continue for the rest of the quarter until summertime.
I am done with classes and done with work for the day so I am excited for the weekend to begin. Highlights of the weekend include our alumni game. I always say this, but this time you should really come and watch because it is actually a real game and there may just be some All-Americans there, according to what I hear. Hopefully the weather will be nice for our game, but either way we plan on beating the older girls, haha!
After the alumni game we all go out to eat together, so that will be nice to talk to some of the older girls and whatnot. After that, I am heading back to Gettler Stadium to watch the men's team play against Wright State....which is the second highlight of my weekend. The third highlight is when (hopefully) the former UC football players get drafted!!!
Even though there will be no "Sykes and Sounds" next year (since someone will be taking over my job), I feel like the countdown for the start of next years' season should begin, and maybe they can continue it when they takeover the job in the summer!! I am so pumped about our season I don't even know what to do...if you think about it, the next game we play after this weekend will be in-season....I'm excited to play with all my teammates now, and also the little froshies coming in! I know a lot of incoming players worry about whether or not the upperclassmen will be mean to them or if they will have a fair chance when it comes to playing time, but we are definitely welcoming to our new players and we are all equal once we step on the field, no matter what class you are in...that is a little different than in high school soccer, or so I hear. I personally think it's good that we don't let class be a major issue on the team!!!
Anyway, I have to go ...but I suggest you support UC Athletics this weekend at one of our games!! Hopefully you check back in soon to see what's happening,

The Blog is Back
April 16, 2007
Today is the fourth week in spring quarter and I am spending my time working as an editor at the school newspaper, studying for school, and playing soccer. This weekend was a pretty busy one. On Friday, we held at SAY soccer clinic here at Gettler Stadium. The men's team and the women's team, along with the coaches, coached the clinic...I could tell all the little kiddies had fun. I coached with Erica Maine, Heather Neiser and Lindsey Noteboom. I was impressed with Erica's game called "wolf." ......Ask her about it.
Then the long-awaited Bearcat Classic was held on Saturday, where we played Youngstown State and Eastern Kentucky. We had no problem scoring in these games and won both games, even though it was really cold and it was raining off and on throughout the day. Our team didn't do much complaining about it though and we are happy with how our spring season is coming to a close. We do have some injuries, but our spring season has still been strong and our team is really improving. Those who are injured are expected to be back soon and they are working hard so that they will be able to help us next year when we dominate.
Next weekend is the BlueChip Classic soccer tournament, and we will be playing our last (real) game against Xavier at home. If you want to come to a game, you should come to this one! Since I have been at UC, we have not beat Xavier, and I don't plan on losing to them again in my career. The following weekend we will have our alumni game which last year was a lot of fun. We get to meet the old alumnae and go out to eat with them after. It's pretty sweet to see how many people care about the program and have people come up to me and know who I am.
I can't wait to see the seniors from this year again. They've been coming to some of our spring games and yelling in the stands and I miss them so much. Also, the word on the street is that Ashley Roush will be coaching the alumnae, so it should be a competitive game.
Anyway, I'm going to go lift with Erica and then off to practice ...check back in soon, the title of the blog doesn't lie.
