CINCINNATI, Ohio-- Just over 48 hours before the first Bearcat Bowl, Head Coach Brian Kelly walked his University of Cincinnati through the final paces of the pregame routine at Nippert Stadium.
"Everything that we did today was in preparation for games," said Kelly. "Our kids ned to understand the routine for going througth that. The comfort level for when we come out of the tunnel against Southeast Missouri State has be worked on. We need to do that today
The Bearcats spent 90 minutes on the Nippert Stadium FieldTurf, going through the motions and finalizing lineups for when the Red and Black meet on Saturday night.
Seniors Digger Bujnoch and Haruki Nakamura were announced as team captains for Bearcat Bowl. Kelly says that naming the senior duo as captains for the fall is premature.
Said Kelly, "We have a lot more work to do with our football team. When I got here on December 4, I had 15 practices to work with our football team for a bowl game. Other than that, these 15 practices have been the only time I have had to evaluate this football team."
"Our kids understand what's expected and that was a lot of what we did today.
Cincinnati wraps up its spring drills on April 21 with the Bearcat Bowl. The red and black squads faceoff at 7 p.m. at Nippert Stadium.
