  • Day One Results OAK RIDGE, Tenn.---The Bearcats took the lake Friday April 20th and Saturday April 21st showing much success at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships. The meet was held at Melton Lake in Oak Ridge Tennessee.

The varsity pair of Candice DeCree and Ashley Wolff took the lake first on Friday night completing the course and receiving a second place finish (9:00.6) topping NC State, Davidson, and Tampa.

Saturday kept the momentum moving early when the Bearcats varsity four (Cox- Locke, Camp, Kleinhans, Fattlar, and McGill) took first place (7:37.9) in the semifinals defeating Davidson, Jacksonville, Rollins, and Florida Tech by 20 seconds. The team was then able to receive first place (7:50.6) in the finals defeating Ohio State, Stetson, Tulane, and Georgia Tech.

The women's Novice 8's (Cox-Knudsen, Sander, Hallet, Stricker, Pakeman, Spencer, Bohache, McSemek, Ryan) turned in a fifth place finish (7:40.9) behind Tulsa, Louisville, Kansas State, and Alabama.

The women ended the day on another high note with the first varsity 8 team (Cox-Johnson, Beach, White, Beebe, Kemna, Tremblay, Peters, Knaus and Murphy) taking second place (7:00.1) in the semifinals only 15 seconds behind first place finishers Central Florida.

The Bearcats will look to complete the weekend with their best times yet when they compete in the finals tomorrow.
