LOUISVILLE, Ky.---Allison Mayborg shot a season-best score of 73 to lead the University of Cincinnati women's golf team during day one of the 2007 BIG EAST Championship. The tournament is being held at the Oxmoor Country Club in Louisville, Ky.
Mayborg finds herself tied for fifth in the standings just one shot out of a tie for second and three shots behind the individual leader, Cindy LaCrosse of Louisville. Mayborg is on track for All-BIG EAST honors which are awarded to the top-10 players at the conclusion of the final round on Tuesday.
The team standings show the fourth seeded Bearcats in fourth place with a total of 304. Cincinnati trails third-place USF by five shots. Notre Dame holds the top spot at 292, six shots better than Louisville.
The UC tandem of Sarah Bires and Hillery Wilson each shot rounds of 78 on Sunday to share a tie for 15th. Each player sits just three strokes out of the top-10.
The second round of the championship event will get underway at 8 a.m. on Monday. Cincinnati's first player will tee off at 8:50 a.m.
