CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team closed its spring season with a 3-1 victory against Wright State as part of the annual Blue Chip Showcase event at Gettler Stadium on Saturday (April 28).
UC took a 1-0 lead 15 minutes in on a corner kick by Lionel Jackson that was deflected by the WSU keeper.
The Bearcats added to their lead at early in the second half when Patrick Baxter wriggled free of his defender and beat the keeper with a laser from just inside the box.
Kenny Anaba put the game away 10 minutes later after fighting off several defenders in the box and firing a shot into the upper right corner to give UC a 3-0 lead.
Wright State scored in the final minute on a UC defensive breakdown to provide the final margin.
The Bearcats finish the competitive portion of their spring season with a 2-1-4 mark.
Prior to the UC-WSU match, Akron posted a 4-0 win against Xavier.
The annual alumni match will take place on Sunday, May 6, at 2 p.m. The current Bearcats will take on former UC players.
