OAK RIDGE, Tenn.---After a tough but persistent first day at the Central/South Regionals Regatta in Oak Ridge, Tenn., the competition continued for the second day today and the Bearcats raced, "Their best performance of the season!" exclaimed head coach Pam Mork.

The Bearcats took the lake today for the `C' and `D" finals against numerous top ranked teams from around the country. Mork explained, "The girls came in today with a great attitude and mindset which was great and shows in the results."

The varsity eight boat of Liz Johnson, Abby Beach, Sarah White, Jessica Beebe, Beth Murphy, Lindsey Kemna, Eliz Tremblay, Megan Peters and Emily Knaus were first in the `D' final, finishing with a time of 6:56.0. The second varsity eight boat, comprised of Melissa Patrick, Sarah Lautenslager, Jessica Miller, Lisa Teague, Jodie Lush, Crystal Coolbaugh, Emily Fox, Julie Idoine and Stephanie Celek also took the `D' final top spot, stopping the clocks in 7:12.30.

Courtney Knudsen, Kara Stricker, Ashley Ryan, Jessica Bohache, Jackie Sander, Teresa Schmidt, Jessica Spencer, Anna Hallet and Brianna McSemek of the novice eight boat finished second in the `C' race, completing the course in 7:27.08.

In second varsity four action, Leah Sass, Candice DeCree, Deirdre McCartney, Elizabeth Nocheck, and Ashley Wolff, finished second in the `C' race, elapsing a time of 8:11.87. The varsity four boat of Mary Locke, Kelly Camp, Jackie Kleinhans, Katie McGill, and Lindsay Fattlar finished the day taking home a third place finish in 7:44.91.

For the Bearcats, not only was it a great team effort but as Mork said, "It was the best performances by individuals and boats all season, all year."

In the team standings, the Bearcats gathered 90 points, placing 18th overall and 10th in the Central Region. Virginia took the overall title, with Ohio State winning in the region.

To sum up the day Mork explained, "To be able to beat five of the best teams in the country was incredible, I couldn't be more proud of these girls!"
