COLUMBIA, Mo.--Senior Renee Hein finished fifth in the high jump at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships this weekend at Missouri's Audrey J. Walton Stadium. Hein cleared 5' 9-1/4" to qualify for the fourth NCAA Championships of her career. She also took part in the 2005 and 2006 Outdoor and 2007 Indoor National Championships.

Two other Bearcats finished in the top ten, with Ashley Wilhelm placing seventh in the long jump with a 19' 6" leap and Brittany Klima finishing 10th with a 12' 6" pole vault.

Kevin Schwarz was 11th in the 3,000 steeplechase in a personal-best 8:59.62 in his second consecutive regional championship appearance. Bob Kandell placed 14th in the 400 meters in a personal-best 47.12. Kandell also ran a leg on the 4x100 relay team that finished 21st in 42.78.

Troy Lammers was 21st in prelims of the 400 hurdles and Monica Hundley finished 25th in the 100 hurdles in 14.63.

Hein and Wilhelm have automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships, which will take place in Sacramento, Calif., from June 6-9. Hein will compete in the high jump and Wilhelm will compete in the heptathlon.
