CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team held its annual alumni match on Sunday (May 6) at Gettler Stadium. Fourteen former Bearcats were on hand to take on members of the current team. The spirited match ended in a 2-2 draw.
The current Bearcats got on the board first when Chris Thompson beat Anders Cedergren on the left flank and crossed to Patrick Baxter, who beat John Adams for a 1-0 lead.
That lead was relinquished, however, when the alumni struck for a pair of goals. Justin Dobbs tallied the first and Kwame Sarkodie, a recent signee of the USL's Cincinnati Kings, gave the alumni a 2-1 lead.
The Bearcats found the back of the net late to knot the match and again Thompson and Cedergren were involved. Thompson sent a cross into the box, which Cedergren deflected in for an own goal and the final tally of the afternoon.
"It was an entertaining afternoon," said head coach Hylton Dayes. "It's always good to get the alumni back on campus and makes for a fun day for everyone involved and a great way to end the spring season."
