CINCINNATI-- The 112th edition of the Battle for the Bell between the University of Cincinnati and Miami University on Saturday, Sept. 15 has been selected to air as part of the ESPN Regional Television (ERT) syndication package. The game will kick off at Noon EDT.
The Bearcats will carry the Victory Bell to Yager Stadium after a 24-10 triumph in 2006. This year's game will be televised in Cincinnati on WKRC-TV (CBS/Channel 12).
The first meeting between UC and Miami, on Dec. 8, 1888 in Oxford, was the first intercollegiate football game played in the state of Ohio and has developed in to college football's fifth-most played rivalry, trailing Minnesota-Wisconsin (116 games), Missouri-Kansas (115), Nebraska-Kansas (113) and Texas-Texas A&M (113). Dating back to 1888, the UC-Miami rivalry shares the honor of being the oldest with North Carolina-Wake Forest.
With the Battle for the Bell selected to be televised, the Bearcats have 11 of their 12 games scheduled to be broadcast in 2007. Game times for the remainder of the 2007 schedule will be announced six to 12 days in advance.
