CINCINNATI - The BIG EAST Conference announced today the University of Cincinnati's conference opponents and game sites for the upcoming 2007-08 season.

For the first time since 1998-99, the BIG EAST will be playing an 18-game league schedule after playing 16 games the last eight years. The new 18-game format has schools playing each opponent once and three teams twice.

UC will face the University of Connecticut, the University of Pittsburgh, and St. John's University in three home-and-home series. Connecticut, along with Marquette, are the two teams Cincinnati did not face in BIG EAST play last season.

Besides Pittsburgh, the Bearcats will be hosting three additional 2007 NCAA Tournament participants - DePaul, Providence and Villanova - at Fifth Third Arena.

"As usual, our BIG EAST schedule will be extremely difficult," states head coach Mick Cronin. "For our fans, we have a great home slate as far as quality opponents. Our mirror teams (Connecticut, Pittsburgh, and St. John's) all made the BIG EAST tournament last season, so we have a tough road, but that is life in the best conference in college basketball. We are excited about our team and ready to get started. "

UC's road schedule does not get any easier as it includes trips to reigning BIG EAST Regular-Season and Tournament champion Georgetown, Louisville, Notre Dame, and West Virginia, the winner of last year's National Invitation Tournament (NIT).
