CINCINNATI-- After two hours of practice on Monday afternoon, head coach Brian Kelly declared that the Bearcats had responded to the message delivered after Sunday's workout.
"After yesterday's practice we talked about how would they respond from the message in terms of staying focused for 24 periods and not using the heat as an excuse," stated Kelly. "I am pleased how that they met that challenge. This group requires a lot of teaching, but when we set the bar they meet it."
Kelly and his assistant coaches continue to install the information needed to run the attacking style of play he is accustomed to coaching. The Bearcats continue to build on the playbook, but there is also fierce competition underway for playing time.
"There are a group of battles going on for positions," Kelly commented. "This time is for assessment of those particular battles. We can not win with one player, we have to get the right 11 guys on the field."
Media Day is the theme for Tuesday. The Bearcats will take individual and position group photos, and the full team photograph scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at Nippert Stadium. Players will be available to the media on the field at 11 a.m. Coach Kelly will meet the media in the Goin Team Room at 11:30 a.m. The squad returns to practice on Wednesday afternoon at 3:05 p.m.
