CINCINNATI--The past and present of University of Cincinnati volleyball will meet when the Bearcats host their annual Alumni Match this Saturday (Aug. 18) in Fifth Third Arena. The contest, pitting 10 former Bearcats against head coach Reed Sunahara's current crop will get underway at 7:30 p.m.

"This is always a fun event for everyone involved," Sunahara stated. "Besides the fact that it gets us some outside competition before our first match, I think its good for our players to interact with those that laid the foundation for the success this program has achieved. It should be a good night and I look forward to seeing many of our former players."

The list of alumni expected to attend reads like a who's who of Bearcat greats under Sunahara. Combined, the 2007 alumni roster boasts 18 all-conference awards, including three league defensive players of the year, two players of the year and a setter of the year. Headlining the list of former Bearcats is Julie DuPont, the first all-American in UC volleyball history. Trish Ladusaw, a three-time Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year will be in attendance, as will Laura Lauder, an honorable mention all-American. Two former Bearcats will make their first appearance as alumni, including current assistant coach Myanna Hellsten. She will be joined by another senior from last year, Noel Olson.

Admission to the 2007 Cincinnati Alumni Match is free and open to the public.
