Bearcats Fall in Second Exhibition Contest

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 exhibition contest to Trinity Western University on Thursday (Aug. 23) at Gettler Stadium.

The Bearcats outshot the Spartans, 14-7, and took 12 corner kicks but could not crack the scoreboard. TWU goalkeeper Lauren Chartrand made eight saves in goal.

Trinity Western opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Andrea McLachlan put home a rebound after a Whitney Agassiz shot. TWU put the match on ice in the 78th minute when Daniela Garig slotted a shot past UC keeper Andrea Kaminski for the final margin.

Brittney Hansen played the first half in net for UC, making three saves, while Kaminski entered for the final 45 minutes. Each keeper allowed one goal.

The Bearcats continue exhibiton play with a 1 p.m. kickoff against Ohio on Saturday, Aug. 25 in Athens, Ohio. UC opens the regular season at Gettler Stadium against crosstown rival Xavier on Friday, Aug. 31. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the Bearcats will honor alum Vanessa Antrobus Quinn, who was a victim of the Trolley Square Shopping Mall Shootings in Utah in February.
