Winston-Salem, N.C. - The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team wrapped up its 2007 exhibition play Saturday night (Aug. 25) with a 2-1 loss at preseason No. 3 Wake Forest.
Freshman Matt Telting notched the first Bearcat goal of 2007 when he connected off a rebound from the top of the box at the 59:13 mark of the game. UC sophomore Kieron Gradwell took two of the four shots on goal in the second half for UC, but the Bearcats were unable to overcome a two-goal deficit from the first half.
Redshirt senior John-Michael Boggs played the complete game in goal for the Bearcats and finished with three saves.
The regular season begins on Friday, Aug. 31 when UC takes on 2006 NCAA participant Loyola (Ill.) in Chicago. The home opener for the Bearcats is slated for Thursday, Sept. 13 against rival Xavier at Gettler Stadium.
