CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team scored four unanswered goals and held on for a 4-3 win against local rival Dayton Tuesday night (Sept. 11) at Gettler Stadium. UC improves to 2-1-1 on the season, while Dayton falls to 3-2-0.

The Bearcats scored a pair of goals in each half after Dayton tallied in the fourth minute of play.

UD's Jen Leslie put the Flyers ahead quickly taking a perfectly placed cross from Amanda Gallow and beating UC keeper Andrea Kaminski (Noblesville, IN/Noblesville) to put UD on top.

The Bearcats evened the match in the 21st minute when Lindsey Noteboom (Hurst, TX/Birdville) took a through ball from Erin MacDonald (St. Catharine's, Ontario/West Park Secondary) and scored her second goal of the season. Just over eight minutes later, freshman Kendall Loggins (Naperville, IL/Naperville) tallied her first collegiate goal on a header after a scramble in front. Kristin May (Hudson, OH/Walsh Jesuit) was credited with the assist after playing a cross into the box.

The Bearcats opened the second half with more offensive pressure and appeared to put the match away when MacDonald and Nicole Sanda (North Royalton, OH/Padua Franciscan) scored within eight minutes of one another to give UC a commanding 4-1 lead.

The Flyers made a ferocious comeback attempt, as goals by Colleen Gibson and Alli Foust brought Dayton to within one with five minutes to play.

UC repelled the final efforts of a determined Flyer team and controlled the ball in the Dayton end for the final half minute of action to pick up its second win of the season.

The Bearcats last scored four goals in a game on Sept. 23, 2001 against South Florida. Dayton came into the contest having allowed just one goal in four matches for a 0.24 goals against average. UD's goals against jumped to 0.96 after the contest.

Dayton outshot the Bearcats, 11-7, but UC made the most of its seven shots, scoring on 57% of its attempts. Kaminski made four saves for the Bearcats, while her counterpart, Niki Reed, made just one save.

UC returns to the road for weekend matches against Oakland (Sept. 14) and Wright State (Sept. 16). The next Bearcats home match is Sept. 21 against rival Louisville in the BIG EAST opener for both teams.
