CINCINNATI - Beginning with this Saturday night's football game versus Marshall University (7:36 p.m. kickoff), the University of Cincinnati will no longer permit standing in the concourse areas of Nippert Stadium. The change is necessary due to the large crowds that are being anticipated for the remaining home games.

The change in the concourse areas, most notably on the west side of the stadium under the press box, has been made for safety reasons by the University Police, University Fire Safety and the Department of Athletics. Besides creating space in case of an emergency, the space will allow easier access to concessions, restrooms, and souvenir stands around the venue.

To alleviate the potential for long lines at concessions areas, UC Athletics and its concessions partner, ARAMARK, are adding additional points of sales, including roaming vendors, selling drinks and food in the stands throughout Nippert Stadium.

Late this summer UC Athletics announced two other new Nippert Stadium policies: No smoking anywhere in the facility, and no umbrellas inside of the stadium.

Director of Athletics Mike Thomas says, "with the success that our football team is having on the field UC is taking proactive steps to manage the many customer care aspects of our Bearcats Football Game Day presentation. It is our intent to make everyone's trip to Nippert Stadium the best that it can possibly be and after consultation with members of our campus safety matrix, it was obvious to all that the elimination of the standing areas inside of the stadium would help lessen the congestion around the upper levels of the facility." Thomas adds that "Nippert Stadium is a great place to watch a game and we look forward to hosting patrons in a positive fashion. We will continue to examine ways that we can improve our game services for all who come to our campus."

Fans planning on attending any of the remaining four home games are encouraged to arrive at Nippert Stadium at least one hour prior to kickoff. Kickoff for this week's game is at 7:36 p.m. in respect for Yom Kippur. Additional kickoff times for future home games against Louisville (Oct. 13), Connecticut (Nov. 10) and West Virginia (Nov. 17) will not be announced until a maximum of 12-days prior to each game date. There will not be any date changes, only the times of each game are yet to be set.

Fans who want to make sure that they are a part of the Bearcats' run to the postseason, but do not already have season tickets, can still do so by ordering GET IN THE GAME four-game season ticket package is on sale for $88 per seat. For an additional $50 per seat you can also reserve your bowl game ticket - a total of $138.
