SIMPSONVILLE, Ky.---Newcomer Bambee Dela Paz and veteran Hillery Wilson both finished tied for 15th, leading the University of Cincinnati women's golf team in its season-opening tournament, the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup. The two-day event wrapped up on Tuesday with Cincinnati taking home 10th place in the team standings.
Dela Paz had the best round of the day for the Bearcats, matching her round two mark with a score of 74. Wilson shot 77 in the finale as both players finished with scores of 224. Both players missed top-10 finishes by only two shots.
Notre Dame won the battle of the BIG EAST at the top of the team standings, finishing three shots ahead of host Louisville. Cincinnati finished in 10th place, just one shot behind a two-way tie for eighth between Maryland and Illinois State.
The Bearcats are back in action, taking part in the Wolverine Invitational, hosted by the University of Michigan Sept. 29-30.
