CLEVELAND - Melissa Bigg (Limehouse, Ontario/Acton) scored twice in leading the University of Cincinnati women's soccer team to a 4-1 non-conference win over Cleveland State on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 23) at Krenzler Field. The Bearcats improve to 3-4-1, while CSU drops to 2-7-0.

Bigg got the scoring started early, finding the back of the net in the fourth minute of play after taking a feed from Kendall Loggins (Naperville, IL/Naperville North) for her second goal of the season.

Erin MacDonald (St. Catharine's, Ontario/West Park Secondary) scored just two minutes later on a breakaway to give the Bearcats a 2-0 lead just over five minutes into the match.

Loggins gave UC a 3-0 lead with her second goal of 2007 after a Kristin May (Hudson, OH/Walsh Jesuit) corner kick.

After Cleveland State got on the board with a Heather Clapacs goal in the 74th minute, Bigg closed the scoring with her third goal off a feed from MacDonald.

"It's great to get our first road win of the season," said head coach Meridy Glenn. "We came out fast and got two early goals and set the tone, which is what we wanted to do."

The Bearcats return to Gettler Stadium and to BIG EAST play next weekend, welcoming DePaul on Friday night (Sept. 28) at 7 p.m.
