CHARDON, Ohio---After 36 holes of play at the season-opening Cleveland State Invitational, the University of Cincinnati and freshman Joe Kastelic are both in second place in the standings. Kastelic got his career off to a great start, shooting a round of 69 in his first collegiate competition.

The Bearcats actually held the lead through the opening round after shooting a 292. UC slipped to second in the standings after carding a 301 in the day's finale. The total of 589 leaves the Bearcats four shots behind the tournament hosts with 18 holes remaining.

"I am excited about our play today," UC men's coach Doug Martin stated. "I think we have a great opportunity to win this tournament with a very young team."

Redshirt freshman Ryan Cahill also had a strong start to his collegiate career, shooting a 72 in the opener. He sits tied for 16th after Monday's play. Junior Albert Fernandez is also in the tournament's top-10 after shooting rounds of 75 and 73 for a total of 148.

Youngstown State's Ryan Stocke holds the top spot on the individual leaderboard by two shots over Kastelic. Kastelic shot a second round 73 to end the day with a two-hole total of 142.

The tournament wraps up on Tuesday with the final 18 holes at the Sand Ridge Golf Course.
