CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team lost a hard fought game to DePaul, 2-1, in double overtime at Gettler Stadium.

The Bearcats, coming off a 4-1 win last Sunday at Cleveland State, battled throughout the first half versus the Blue Demons, posting a total of five first-half shots.

Mid-way through the second half, DePaul broke a scoreless tie with a goal by Shannon Williams at the 63:40 mark of the game, set up by Lauren Pagone.

UC had to pick up its offensive intensity after falling behind 1-0 and it was junior forward Jenn Johanningman (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) that got the Bearcats back in the game, netting her first goal of the season from Kim Sykes (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) and Heather Neiser (Batavia, OH/Ursula) at 74:13. Johanningman is the seventh different Bearcat to score this season.

In a game that saw both teams get very physical, the two squads traded scoring chances over the final 15:47 to send the game into the first of two overtime periods. In the first extra period, UC out shot DePaul, 2-1.

The game came to an abrupt end in the 107th minute when the Blue Demon's Callie Hemming scored on a pass from Tara Evangelist and Williams and pushed it past sophomore UC goaltender Andrea Kaminski (Noblesville, IN/Noblesville) for the win.

Kaminski took the loss for UC despite making nine saves in the game. The Bearcats drop to 3-5-1 overall and 0-2-0 in the BIG EAST, while DePaul improves to 4-5-1 on the season and 1-1-0 in league play.

UC gets back to action on Sunday when its travels to South Bend, Ind., to take on Notre Dame and the defending National Player of the Year Kerri Hanks.
