TEEING OFF: The University of Cincinnati men's golf team is back in action beginning on Sunday (Oct. 7) as the Bearcats take part in the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate in Normal, Illinois. UC will be one of the 11 teams in the tournament field for the two-day event. The event marks the third tournament of the fall season for UC, who won it's season-opener (Cleveland State Invitational), before finishing 16th earlier this week at the Xavier Invitational.

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: The Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Illinois is the site for the 2007 D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate, hosted by Illinois State. Play in the 54-hole, two-day event gets underway on Sunday (Oct. 7) with the first 36 holes beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT. A total of 11 teams from the Midwest will battle for team supremacy. The field, with current Golfweek rankings includes: Bradley (270), Cincinnati (158), Creighton (230), Eastern Illinois (198), Evansville (227), Illinois (77), Illinois State (216), Lewis (N/A), Northern Iowa (159), Southern Illinois (137) and Western Illinois (169).

THE LINE-UP: The same five-man line-up that has competed at both of the Bearcats' fall tournaments will be back in action this weekend at Illinois State. Freshman Joe Kastelic leads the way with a team-best average of 73.0. He will be joined by junior Albert Fernandez, UC's top finisher at the Xavier Invitational and owner of the team's second-best average at 73.5. Also set to compete will be redshirt freshman Ryan Cahill (75.3), junior Blake Tucker (75.5) and freshman Kane Volsky (76.8). The event will also mark the collegiate debut of freshman Tyler Bice, who will compete as an individual.

LAST TIME OUT: Behind a 37th place finish from junior Albert Fernandez, the Bearcats wrapped up action at the Xavier Invitational with a finish of 16th in the team standings. Fernandez shot a find round 75 and finished the tournament with a score of 217, just two shots ahead of redshirt freshman Ryan Cahill. Junior Blake Tucker posted the best score of the day for the Bearcats with a round of 72. Marquette held onto the top spot in the team standings, winning the event by two shots over Western Carolina. Brent Long of 13th place Western Kentucky took individual honors with a score of 203, one shot better than Akron's Colin Clemente.
