CINCINNATI - Kieron Gradwell (Middlesex, England/Douay Martyrs School) scored his first goal of the season in the 66th minute to lead the University of Cincinnati men's soccer team to a 3-0 win against Bowling Green (3-7-1) in a non-conference match at Gettler Stadium on Wednesday (Oct. 10).

The Bearcats (5-5-1) are 5-0 at home this season, outscoring opponents 14-1.

After a scoreless first half in which neither team created many scoring chances, the Bearcats dominated the final 45 minutes.

Gradwell's game winner came off a corner kick by Lionel Jackson (Southfield, MI/Birmingham Groves). The ball was flicked by Scott Stockum (Fairfield, OH/Cincinnati State) and finished by Gradwell for his second career goal.

Freshman Mark Konitsch (Clarence, NY/Clarence Senior) scored his first career goal on a beautiful build up by Matt Telting (Loveland, OH/Milford) and Patrick Baxter (Cincinnati, OH/Wyoming) in the 79th minute. Konitsch took a perfect through ball from Baxter in the box and buried his left-footed shot in the top of the net.

Just five minutes later, Kenny Anaba (Westerville, OH/Worthington Christian) put the match away with his seventh tally of the season.

Freshman netminder Miguel Rosales (Aurora, CO/Smoky Hill) made eight saves in notching his third shutout of the campaign. He has posted a 0.56 goals against average in the last five matches, leading the Bearcats to a 3-1-1 mark over that span.

UC returns to BIG EAST play on Saturday, Oct. 13, at Syracuse. The Bearcats and Orange kick off at 7 p.m.
