OPENING KICK:
The University of Cincinnati welcomes two American division opponents this weekend. USF makes the long trip north to take on the Bearcats on Oct. 19, for a 7 p.m. start. On Sunday at 1p.m, UC takes on the Marquette Golden Eagles. MU has been stellar in conference play notching 13 points and a 4-2-1 record. This will be the final home match for UC this season.
BEARCAT BITES:
Erin MacDonald leads the Bearcats with 15 points (4 G, 7 A) through 14 matches. Last year, Becky Imhoff led UC with eight points (4 G) for the entire season.
Melissa Bigg (4G, 3A) and Kendall Loggins (4G, 3A) are tied for second on the team in points with 11.
Eight different Bearcats have scored this season, including the first career tallies for sophomore Melissa Bigg and freshmen Logan Ballinger, Kendall Loggins and Emily Hebbeler.
Head coach Meridy Glenn picked up her 250th career victory on Aug. 31 in UC's 2-1 double overtime win against Xavier. She is 16th all-time in wins among Division I women's soccer coaches and holds a 254-182-35 overall mark.
Goalkeeper Andrea Kaminski is second in the BIG EAST in saves, turning away 76 shots in 14 games and ranks third in saves per game, averaging 5.43.
UC was picked to finish seventh in the National Division in the BIG EAST preseason coaches poll.
LAST TIME OUT:

Kristin May scored the game-winning goal in the 89th minute to propel the Bearcats to their second BIG EAST win of the season. With the win, UC moved into sixth place in the division, one point higher than the Scarlet Knights. Kendall Loggins got the scoring started by netting a ball off of a set piece from 35 yards out. Rutgers answered with a goal of thier own from Gina Demaio in the 41st minute. UC goalkeeper Andrea Kaminski stopped eight shots on the afternoon, improving Cincinnati to 5-8-1 on the season.
SCOUTING THE BULLS:
USF is currently riding a four-match unbeaten streak, the Bulls last defeat came against division leader, Connecticut on Sept. 28th.
The Bulls are led by the attack of Lindsay Brauer (4G, 2A) and Autumn Browning( 3G, 4A) each have ten points on the season.
Only four players on USF have scored this season.
Sophmore goalkeeper Mallori Lofton-Malachi has allowed 13 goals in 11 contests, but only has allowed four goals in BIG EAST play. Lofton-Malachi has a save percentage of 0.794, which ranks sixth in the conference.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES:
Marquette enters this weekend 4-2-1 in BIG EAST play and 11-2-1 overall. MU currently stands third in the American divison with 13 points.
Freshman forward Ashley Bares leads Marquette in points, goals and shots, and is ranked fifth, tied for second and tied for eighth in the BIG EAST, respectively.
Junior defender Katie Kelly is tied for the BIG EAST lead in assists with nine. All of Kelly's points this season have come off of helpers.
Goalkeeper Laura Boyer is tied for the league lead in shutouts, totaling nine through 15 matches. Boyer only allows 0.61 goals a game.
YOUNG BEARCATS TAKE TO THE FIELD:
Cincinnati freshmen Logan Ballinger and Kendall Loggins have seen significant time each of the first 12 matches of 2007, making an immediate impact. Ballinger scored her first career goal in the 89th minute against Xavier, knotting the score and sending the match into overtime. Loggins is tied for second on the team in scoring (4G ,3A). Vanessa Hardin, Emily Hebbeler, Camille Royer and Shauna Smith have each seen action early in 2007, with Hardin assisting on the game winner against Xavier. Emily Hebbeler netted her first collegieate goal in the win against Pittsburgh.
BIGG TIME:
Sophomore Melissa Bigg is tied for the team lead with four goals after her tally against Notre Dame on Sept. 30. The Ontario native has started all but one match and ranks second on the squad with 11 points.
MACDONALD DOES IT ALL:
Sophmore Erin MacDonald not only leads or is tied for the team lead in almost every offensive statitical category, she also ranks in the top 10 in the BIG EAST in assists (7, t-3rd), assists per game (0.50, t-4th), total points (15, t-6th), and points per game (1.07, 8th).
UP NEXT:
UC will finish their season on the road, facing two National division opponenst which will have huge BIG EAST tournament implications. The Bearcats travel to Washington, DC to take on the Georgetown Hoyas on Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. Cincinnati will then travel north to Villanova to take on the Wildcats on Oct. 28 for a 1 p.m kick. This will be the last regular season match for the Bearcat seniors.
