TEEING OFF: In preparation for the 2008 BIG EAST Championship at Elks Run Golf Course in nearby Batavia, the University of Cincinnati women's golf team will host its first of two home events on Friday, Oct. 19. Three regional teams (Dayton, IUPUI and Ohio) will join the Bearcats for the Cincinnati Quadrangular at Elks Run. Tee times begin at 1 p.m.

ABOUT THE FIELD:

  • Cincinnati is the highest ranked team in the field, being shown 87th according to Golfweek. The Bearcats earned a third-place finish at the Hawkeye Invitational in their last outing.
  • Senior Hillery Wilson is UC's number one player with a team-best 75.9 average.
  • Following a ninth-place finish at the IPFW Invitational earlier this week, Dayton is listed 196th in the Golfweek team rankings.
  • The Flyers top performer thus far is freshman Julie Pouliquen, owner of a 78.8 average.
  • IUPUI is ranked 199th in the most recent Golfweek rankings and is coming off a second place finish at the IPFW Invitational earlier this week.
  • Tara Boone and Kellie Marshall are the Jaguars top players, with each player holding a 78.3 average.
  • Ohio is shown at 177th according to Golfweek after a 14th-place finish at the Xavier Invitational.
  • Senior Katie Stafford is Ohio's number one player with a team-best average of 81.0. The Bobcats also feature freshman Erin Cahill, the younger sister of Cincinnati men's golfer Ryan Cahill.

THE LINE-UP: All nine players on the Bearcats roster will get the chance to compete with the four not in the team line-up competing as individuals. Senior Hillery Wilson, the team leader in average at 75.9 will lead the way, with freshman Bambee Dela Paz (76.9) right behind. The rest of the lineup should feature senior Allison Mayborg (80.9), junior Marianne Erb (80.4) and freshman Kate Moore (80.7). The four players competing as individuals are junior Sarah Stamper (81.3), sophomore Ashley Combs (83.3), redshirt freshman Katelyn Hiller (83.3) and true freshman Jenny Linville (81.3).

COMING UP NEXT: Cincinnati concludes the fall portion of its 2007-08 schedule Oct. 29-30, taking part in the Ross Resorts Invitational in Southern Pines, N.C.
